Oranga Tamariki staff protest over martial arts-style brawls between teenagers

Oranga Tamariki has fired four youth justice center staff over a martial arts-style brawl between two teenagers.

The video showed young people fighting and being incited by others at the same South Auckland facility where eight teenagers are being held. I climbed the roof on the weekend.

The brawl took place in mid-June, and Oranga Tamariki said he took action as soon as he became aware of the video, firing the four staff members allegedly involved.

Police were also investigating.

Deputy CEO Tuscha Penny said in a statement that the company takes the issue extremely seriously.

All homes are currently under review.
