The largest drug seizure in New Zealand history continues.
This month, New Zealand Police, together with New Zealand Customs and New Zealand Defense Force partners, Operation Hydros announced.
The shipment of cocaine recovered in the Pacific, likely destined for the Australian market, was sufficient to meet demand there for about a year.
A final analysis of the recovered cocaine has been completed.
The total amount of cocaine recovered is now just under four tons, said Superintendent Greg Williams, director of the National Organized Crime Group.
“This is an important update, as it adds over half a ton of cocaine to the already impressive amount previously announced.
“In total, Operation Hydros recovered 3,894 kilograms of cocaine, which is more than $580 million in gross wholesale value.”
No arrests have been made at this stage, but recovery investigations continue.
