Having seen the heroes of English football players in the euro, Dina Asher-Smith is ready to inspire the country at the Olympics.
Team GB was lifted not only by the finals of the Three Lions, but also by the words published on their social media accounts.
Asher Smith, 25, said:
“I was very proud to see them and see how they acted.
“They were very successful across the euro and England exceeded all our expectations. They worked great.
“They are the achievements of our country and show a really good sense of moral leadership.
“As athletes, we are really proud, and definitely as an Englishman, as a black Englishman, I was really proud of them during the euro.
“I thought they represented our country and our community incredibly well.
“No doubt social movements are something I want to increase. You need to give back.
“It’s not just an athlete, it’s an important part of being someone who has had the opportunity.
“The only reason I’m here today is the goodwill and effort of others within the team and throughout my community.
“It’s completely selfish not to give back when you have so many opportunities in your career.
“I’m really proud that footballers have done it more and more throughout the year and how they acted in the euro.”
