The babysitter told Melbourne at the age of three, “I’m bashing you,” and then left the boy with a permanent disability.Victoria

A woman told a 3-year-old woman that she was a babysitter Melbourne “I will beat you” before injuring the child, leaving a permanent disability.

It’s unclear exactly what Xing Shen did to the boy she was babysittering with her partner Xi Zhang in the couple’s Docklands apartment in May 2019.

The sweeper heard a big bang in the couple’s bedroom and heard Shen telling the boy, “I’ll beat you,” before finding a boy who was unresponsive and turned to the corner as a punishment. ..

The boy has had permanent cognitive impairment since that night and needs continuous speech pathology and physiotherapy support. His concentration and fine athletic ability have also receded.

Shen told her neighbor that the boy had a “small accident” and “played” on Zhang’s shoulder before hitting his head against the wall.

The couple took the boy to the hospital. He was “upset, upset, unresponsive” at this point, according to a document released by the county court in Victoria.

Shen reiterated a similar story about the “accident” to hospital staff, stating that the bruise found on the boy’s body occurred during childcare. He needed resuscitation and brain surgery, and a pediatrician described Shen’s accident as “impossible, if not impossible,” given the ongoing injuries.

Shen then told social workers that she and Chan had trapped the boy twice outside the balcony as a punishment for “lying.”

She said the boy kicked her in retaliation, pushed her off the couch into the wall, and police found a hole.

Shen, 25, pleaded guilty to being seriously injured by negligence. Zhang, 23, admitted the same charges he had with his partner when the incident happened.

Shen’s deputy lawyer, Hayden Ratley, said this did not prevent the boy from being treated while she and Chan were lying to hospital staff. Rattray also said Shen has little or no experience in caring for children.

She gave birth with custody since then, but the baby girl was taken care of by her relatives in China.

Shen spent 476 days without being able to hug, feed or hear her first words, Ratley said.

“At the human level, it is difficult to understand the difficulties that must have occurred. [Shen] In the days since she gave birth to her daughter, “the lawyer said. “Obviously, her detention period was very annoying.”

Zhang’s lawyer, Jonathan Manning, said the couple’s agreement to treat the boy roughly was not planned in advance and was reached on the day.

The pair, who have already been detained for 726 days, are likely to be deported to China after being released from prison.

Judge Trevor Wraight will hand down the decision on May 12.
