Metallica has filed an insurance lawsuit for losses incurred as a result of postponing a South American tour due to a coronavirus pandemic.

The band filed a proceeding against Lloyds London After a six-day tour, Greta Van Fleet, scheduled for April 2020 at Support Act, was postponed because a pandemic forced everything to shut down.

TThe heirs show was rescheduled in December 2020 However, the situation was not improved enough to move forward, so it was postponed again.

Metallica wanted to change the schedule of the show in late 2021, but the date hasn’t been announced yet.

The live music industry was one of the most affected sectors during the pandemic and was forced to close for almost a year to comply with the rules for mass gatherings.

CBS Los Angeles reports that a lawsuit alleging a breach of contract was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, seeking unspecified compensatory damages.

According to the proceedings, Metallica purchased a standard “cancellation, waiver, and absence insurance” policy to cover losses if any of the tours were postponed or canceled.

It states that the band turned around in a timely manner [Lloyd’s] Lloyd’s of London cites the insurance’s exclusion of infectious diseases, claiming that it “refused any indemnification obligations based on an unreasonably restrictive interpretation of the insurance.”

A representative of Lloyd’s of London said in a statement Thursday in response to the proceedings: “Lloyds oversees and regulates the market for independent insurers, not insurers.

“Therefore, there is no information about any particular policy or proceeding, and you are not allowed to comment on the proceedings in any case.”
