DANNIELLA Westbrook has opened up about her septicemia battle after ‘pushing’ her too hard.
It comes after The Sun exclusively revealed the 48-year-old star was taken to the hospital with the bloodstream infection back in May.
The actress confessed that she has suffered from the serious illness more than once this year – and it is because she is more vulnerable to it.
Danniella told The Sun exclusively: “Because of my operations I’m quite open about it.
“I don’t always wear a mask and I have to, so they always tell me off!”
Septicemia is a serious bloodstream infection also known as blood poisoning.
Explain why she had the serious infection three times in 2022, Danniella – who recently looked unrecognizable after seeing her glamorous new look – added: “I also went back to the gym too quickly.
“Sweating and doing classes and things I shouldn’t be doing… so now I have a personal trainer.”
The former BBC star caused concern among fans earlier this year when she said she didn’t feel well.
A week later she confessed that she was silent bedridden with a mysterious illness.
Then it was confirmed that the former EastEnders star was suffering from septicemia and was receiving urgent treatment to stop the spread of any infection.
A representative then said: “Daniella suffered a sudden health shock.
What is septicemia?
Septicemia is a serious bloodstream infection also known as blood poisoning – it is the name of the infection itself.
It happens when a bacterial infection enters the bloodstream – dangerous because it can then spread throughout the body.
It can start anywhere, but the most common causes are urinary tract, lung and kidney and stomach infections.
It can be life-threatening if not treated in hospital.
“Fortunately, the problem was caught early and treated by medical professionals. Danniella has been released from hospital and is recovering at home with the support of close family.
“We are grateful that Danniella does not suffer from major risks.
“Danniella appreciates everyone’s immediate support and we will be sure to issue updates on her continued recovery.
Despite the setbacks, the mother of two looks better than ever and has been keeping fit by pole dancing, and even has plans to start spinning.
In addition to focusing on her physical health, Danniella is also in regular contact with her therapist and is feeling well.
“I still talk to my therapist every few weeks, like I say, I have a good team of people around me,” she said.
“I’ve gone through stages in my life of being so neurotic, ADHD and mental health issues, so if you’re going to be in this industry, you have to be well looked after.”
