The Hamilton dairy owner was injured after being held at gunpoint during a daytime robbery yesterday.

Four armed people broke into a dairy farm on Hamilton’s River Road around 5pm, police said.

The group robbed cash registers and cigarettes from dairy and left the scene in a previously stolen white Subaru Impreza, police said.

Senior Detective Sergeant Andrew Saunders said an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

“This was a very traumatic and terrifying incident for dairy owners,” Sanders said.

“He sustained moderate injuries in the assault, which could have ended very differently.”

The 18-year-old was also charged with aggravated assault and trespassing a motor vehicle in connection with another robbery at a Blackbull liquor shop in Cambridge on 11 December.

He was scheduled to appear in Hamilton District Court this morning.

Police said they are working to identify other individuals involved in last night’s robbery and would like to hear from anyone who may have information to help with the investigation.
