Staff at the controlled quarantine and quarantine facility managed the return of 130,000 New Zealanders well and kept 5 million kiwis safe, says COVID-19 Minister of Response Chris Hipkins.
It has been a year since the introduction of controlled quarantine and quarantine systems.
“A little over a year ago, no one could have imagined what it would take to protect New Zealand from a fast-growing, deadly pandemic,” said Chris Hipkins.
“We needed to make quick decisions, and a controlled quarantine and quarantine system was one of them. These facilities are the basis of our response and allow New Zealanders to take COVID-19 abroad. It has proven to be a means to enable you.
“Their success is a testament to the thousands of public and private sector staff who have worked in 32 facilities over the past year. Their actions are close to a normal life without a pandemic. It greatly contributes to our ability.
“Cleaners, security guards, NZDF personnel, nurses, police, social workers and many others have been working hard to ensure that the system works properly.
“Because they run daily on the Border Alert Level 4 system, they are at the forefront of COVID-19 and I am confident that all New Zealanders will join me in honor of their dedication and courage. They are heroes.
“This year was a special year,” said Chris Hypkins.
A controlled quarantine and quarantine system is one of New Zealand’s largest public and private sector efforts, the largest peacetime operation in New Zealand Defense Force history, and one-third of NZDF personnel. More than one works in a MIQ facility. Last 12 months.
Other public agencies involved include the Ministry of Health, the District Health Commission, the New Zealand Defense Force, the New Zealand Police, Air Security Services, Orangata Maliki, and the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
