Uighurs in Australia are calling on the Chinese ambassador to meet with their missing loved ones in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region.

“Many of us in Australia have lost contact with their loved ones and don’t know where they are,” said Batiyar Bora, secretary of the Uighur Association of Australia.

“We ask Mr. Chen to listen to us and sit with us to answer our questions.”

Australia has denounced restrictions on religious freedom, mass surveillance, out-of-judiciary detention, forced labor and sterilization in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, but has not imposed sanctions.

The Morrison administration has also not followed the United States in calling for an incident in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

“Many of us living in Australia have lost contact with their loved ones and do not know where they are,” said Batjar Bora, secretary of the Uighur Association of Australia.

China’s Australian ambassador denied human rights abuses in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in a presentation to local media on Wednesday.

Ambassador Chen Zhenge said it was “fake news” composed of anti-Chinese troops.

The presentation “Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is a Great Land” was also screened in London last month as China’s mission intensified its propaganda attacks to counter the country’s harmful human rights records.

Through an interpreter, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Deputy Governor Arkin Tunyaz said through interpreters that foreign-minded people are blind to those who are living a good life without the threat of terrorism.

“If yesterday’s media conference wasn’t a promotional activity, the ambassador would certainly welcome the open dialogue,” said Uighur leader Ramira Chanishev.
