Described by her friends as a “beautiful soul,” Jockey was just beginning her career.

The jockey was riding Red Orchid at the race at Ashburton Racecourse in New Zealand on Thursday.

She was declared dead “soon”, according to the New Zealand Herald, and other riders were given the heartbreaking news.

The rest of the meeting was called off as the tributes started pouring in.

Alex Coleman, one of Taylor’s friends, said, “I’m not sure anyone can find the words to describe how tragic Megan’s loss is.

“She was such a beautiful soul and loved by so many, but the shock of her tragedy at such a young age is completely numbing.

“We went horseback riding at the Pony Club in Belfast, traveled around the world talking to each other. She was special.
