Theatrical legend Martha Henry died at the age of 83.
Martha died of cancer and was surrounded by her family at her home in Ontario, Canada.
The actress gave her final performance with three tall women in Edward Albee just 12 days ago during the Stratford Festival in Ontario.
Artistic director Antonio Simorino said in a new release:
“The name Martha Henry is synonymous with artistry, intelligence and beauty. As an actor, her performance has become legendary.
“Her responsibility for the theater was so great that she was able to endure the pain, confront the terminal illness and complete a surprisingly true performance as a dying woman. Three Thor Woman.. Her life has become an art. ”
Born in Detroit in 1938, Martha moved to Canada after graduating from the Carnegie College of Engineering in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in February 1959.
She soon became the mainstay of the Stratford Festival after studying at the National Drama School in Canada.
In her first role in the 1962 Tempest, she played Miranda on the other side of William Hutt in Reed as Prospero.
