A person was seriously injured after a car and pedestrian collision in the suburbs of Christchurch.
The crash occurred Wednesday at 5:37 pm on Bower Avenue near the roundabout with Travis Road in New Brighton.
According to a police spokeswoman, a serious police crash was notified and police officers are still on the scene at 7:45 pm.
A spokesman for St. John, Gerald Campbell, said the person was seriously injured and was taken to Christchurch Hospital.

Brighton’s new resident, John Osgood, said he was on his way to a nearby pub when he was caught in a traffic jam on his motorcycle.
He passed the crash and saw a person lying on the ground.
“I knew it wasn’t good, but I saw the cops there so they were in good hands. There were so many people that I didn’t want to hang out.” He said.
The road opened at 7:50 pm, according to a police spokesman.
Since January 2000, at least 38 accidents have been recorded in the region, according to accident data from the Wakako Tahi NZ Transport Agency.
