Rally across New Zealand to boost COVID-19 vaccination coverage

Wellington, October 16 (Xinhua)-New Zealand launched a national rally on Saturday to vaccinate as many people as possible against COVID-19.

The vaccination rally, named Super Saturday, aims to promote a 90% immunization milestone with at least 100,000 vaccinations on Saturday.

Vaccine clinics such as mobile facilities, local vaccine centers, family doctors and pharmacies are open all day long.

In Auckland, 300 pre-booked people have been vaccinated against Air New Zealand’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner Jet. Tickets for live music, food and drink, and events will be provided nationwide to those vaccinated on Saturday.

Free transportation, medical and translation services are provided for easy access to vaccinations. Celebrities, pop singers and politicians also attended the rally and encouraged more people to vaccinate.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director of Health Ashley Bloomfield are campaigning throughout the Wellington region and participating in a campaign to vaccinate people.

By October 14, 83% of New Zealand’s population over the age of 12 had been first vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, and 62% of the eligible population had been fully vaccinated, according to official Ministry of Health statistics. I am. ..

On Saturday, the country reported cases in 41 new communities of COVID-19, boosting the total number of recent delta variant COVID-19 community outbreaks to 1,895.

In New Zealand, it is nearly impossible to rule out cases of COVID-19 with a two-digit daily case number. Prime Minister Ardan acknowledged that outbreaks in Auckland are expanding at a faster pace than expected.

The health department is working on accidental plans such as home quarantine and additional ICU beds to address the potential surge in case numbers.

The New Zealand Government is working on a traffic light system that incorporates a vaccination certificate into a restriction framework that replaces the current COVID-19 alert level system. Immunization rate is one of the key parameters behind the new system.

The country aims to vaccinate 90 percent of the eligible population.

The government will announce the setting of a new COVID-19 restriction system next week.

Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, has COVID-19 alert level 3 restrictions. The meeting is limited to 10 people. The Northland region and parts of the Waikato region of North Island have also been level 3 due to community cases. The rest of the country has an alert level 2 limit, which limits indoor activities to 100 people.
