When asked about the Kremlin critic’s crackdown, Putin quotes the Black Lives Matter and Captior riots.
Rachel Scott of ABC News asked Vladimir Putin about how he responded to Russia’s political opposition.
Scott said to Putin, “The list of your political opponents dead, imprisoned, or imprisoned is long …. My question is, President, what are you so afraid of? “
Putin replied by equating the imprisonment of enemies such as Alexei Navalny with the accusations filed against the riots of more than 500 people in the January 6 riots.
“People came to Congress with political demands as to who killed who and who was imprisoned,” Putin said. “They face up to 20 years, perhaps 25 years in prison.”
“They are called’domestic terrorists’. They have been accused of many other crimes,” he said.
“We sympathize with what’s happening in the state, but we don’t want it to happen in Russia,” Putin said.
