Mako Bunipola sees a packed autumn series as ideal preparation for World Cup

England props Mako Vnipola I believe that this autumn’s Mini World Cup will lay the foundation for next year’s full-fledged World Cup.

Eddie Jones looks back on November’s match against Argentina, Japan, new zealand When South Africa As a dry run for his team’s title bid at France 2023, meanwhile, they will face the Pumas and the Brave Blossoms in the group stage.

Vnipola was part of the England squad that reached the final in 2019 and credits a similarly packed schedule to his success in Japan the previous fall.

“We did this in 2018 when we had a similar situation where we had four tough games and were in camp the whole time. We are doing it,” said Vunipola.

“Winning the Australian Series in the summer showed how we want to grow as a team. We adapted from the first test to the last.

“It’s up to us to take it further and worry about what the English team can do to become the best team in the world ahead of next Sunday’s game against Argentina.”

England are facing a leadership crisis as Courtney Lowes and Owen Farrell battle concussions and threaten their relationship with the Pumas, but Vnipola sees it as an opportunity to build leadership depth.

Saracen Prop said: “We have a lot of boys here who have been in and around the camp for a long time, but Owen and Courtney are irreplaceable.

“One is due to their previous captaincy and the experience it brought, but even more so to their players. They guide through action.

“But now it’s a chance for others to step up. Fingers crossed I’ll be back next week, but it’s a hard one with a concussion.”

England have allowed their players’ names to be printed on the back of their shirts throughout the fall in a move unusual for rugby union.
