The Queen’s 99-year-old husband was “comfortable and responsive to treatment,” the palace said.

Count Wessex said his father was “much better” and appreciated the “nice message” from the public.

Prince Edward told Sky News: “He’s looking forward to going out. This is the most positive thing, so we keep crossing our fingers.”

Both the Duke and the Queen, 94, were vaccinated against Covid-19 last month. Prince Phillip’s hospitalization had nothing to do with the coronavirus.

The couple, who celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in November last year, are blocking at Windsor Castle with a small number of household staff.

Sources at the palace had previously said that in June the 100-year-old Duke walked to a hospital in Merrill Bonn without help.

Prince Charles visited his father on Saturday afternoon for about 30 minutes.

A Clarence House spokesman said Prince Charles returned to the High Grove House in Gloucestershire after his visit.

On Monday, the Duke of Cambridge said his grandfather was “ok” and doctors were “watching” him.

Members of the royal family continue their official duties, with the Queen knighting her royal aide at a socially distant private ceremony in Windsor on Thursday.

Prince Phillip retired from royal duties in 2017 with the support of the Queen.

Prince Phillip was known for his off-the-cuff remarks at a public event and joked that he was “the most experienced plaque presenter in the world” at the time.

During his active royal era, he participated in over 22,000 solo activities and delivered over 5,000 speeches.

The Duke has been treated for a variety of health conditions, including coronary artery occlusion in 2011, bladder infections in 2012, and exploratory surgery in the abdomen in June 2013.
