Prime Minister congratulates Fiame Naomi Mataafa for winning the election

Tonight, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern congratulated Prime Minister-elect Fiame Naomi Mataafah on winning Samoa’s general election.

“New Zealand has a special relationship with Samoa and is based on a friendship treaty. We look forward to working with the new government of Samoa in the spirit of partnership that characterizes this bond,” said Jacinda Ardern. ..

“After a long period of post-election uncertainty, New Zealand welcomes the stability of a functioning government,” said Jacinda Ardern.

This is a historic moment for Samoa’s democracy.

“New Zealand will work with Samoa to promote common interests by promoting prosperity, security and sustainability in the Pacific, especially as it recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jacinda Ardern. Ardern said.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged his contribution to the retiring Prime Minister Tuirae Pasay Relemari Elegaoi and his Samoa.
