Wisconsin hitter Joshua Da Silva tells how Virat Kohli celebrated ‘Mother’s Day’

Port of Spain [Trinidad], July 22 (ANI): West Indies batsman Joshua Da Silva speaks of his mother meeting Indian batsman mainstay Virat Kohli, stating, “You came to see Virat, not me.” BCCI posted a video of Joshua on its Twitter handle saying that Virat made his mother’s “day”.

“It wasn’t me, she said she had come to see Virat, which was kind of funny. He happened to be on the bus and said that my mother might be there, so I went to knock on the window and he came to see my mother. He is a once-a-year day for my mother,” Joshua said in the video.

In the video, Virat greets Joshua with a smile, while his mother is visibly excited to meet her favorite cricketer.

The second Test, being held between India and the West Indies, marks Kohli’s 500th international off-the-beaten-track match, but the mainstay of India’s batsman came into the match with a well-crafted century.

The ton was another step forward for Kohli to reach Sachin Tendulkar’s international record of 100 tonnes. He brought up the 29th test century of his own career on Friday.

Virat is now a record holder to be the envy of the cricket world. He scored 25,582 runs across the format, averaging 53.63 runs in 76 centuries and 131 half-centuries in 559 innings.

His best record in red ball format so far is 254 games unbeaten against South Africa in 2019.

He also became the first player to complete a century in his 500th international match.

Australia’s Steve Smith, 32, ahead of him England’s Joe Root, 30, and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, 28, are currently behind him in terms of test 100.

Virat also holds the record for the most 76th century in the world, followed by Root (46th century), David Warner (45th century), Steve Smith and Rohit Sharma (44th century).

He also became India’s top scorer in the ICC World Test Championships. Since its creation in 2019, Virat has made 34 appearances, scoring 2,063 runs and an average of 38.92 runs. (Ani)
