Ocado is launching a new virtual shopping aisle called “Rising Stars” with the aim of becoming a “small independent brand champion.”
Ocado’s new dedicated section will showcase the winners of the contest of the same name and showcase 20 upcoming brands, from snacks to eco-friendly brands to alcoholic products.
Each winner will also receive an online media bundle worth £ 30,000 from an online grocery store. This includes website banners and mentions on all channels for customers.
Rose Price, Buying Director of Ocado Retail, said:
“The Octado Rising Star Award not only supports up-and-coming brands, but also encourages customers to vote and buy products from the best small suppliers.”
Products featured at Ocado include Lo Bros passion fruit kelp tea, pasta evangelist lobster and crab tortellini, and Little Moons vegan chocolate rice cakes.
Ocado Retail, a broad group of online grocery stores operating as a joint venture with Marks & Spencer, currently boasts approximately 50,000 products, including its own brand.
