New Semester Tips for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Friday, September 6, 2019 (Health News)-Returning to school is autism And their parents, routine preparation and establishment can make it easy.

The Los Angeles Children’s Hospital has tips to help parents get a good start in their new school year.

If time permits, ask them to visit the school before classes resume. With permission, take pictures of schools, playgrounds, classrooms, teachers and create picture books for children.

Discuss the needs of your child with the principal.Ask about your school experience autism Spectrum disorders (ASD) And how the staff work with the children they have ASD..

If possible, meet with your teacher before the school begins talking about your child’s strengths and needs, seating, and potential distractions.

Try to be at least one consistent with the previous school year, especially if your child changes classrooms, teachers, or schools. For example, if you are happy with your child’s aide, try to keep the same aide.

Look at pictures of previous year’s friends and activities with your child to encourage conversations about the school.

Do a “school” at home to help your child get used to the expected activities and relieve fear.

If your child is starting in a new school and has friends doing the same, let your child know they will be together in their new adventure.
