New Mexico Spa Vampire Facials Associated with HIV Infection

Two people may have contracted HIV After undergoing a so-called “vampire facial” at a New Mexico spa, state health officials say.

In this procedure, a tool called a microneedling pen is used to inject nutrient-rich plasma into the face. Plasma usually comes from the client’s own blood. CNN report.

Laboratory tests have shown that two clients of the VIP spa in Albuquerque are infected with the same virus, and health officials say it is likely that they were infected with the same procedure at the spa.

The State Department of Health offers free and sensitive tests HIV, Hepatitis B And Hepatitis C For those who received injection-related treatments at the spa between May and September 2018, CNN report.
