An initiative is launched today to help New Zealanders gain the confidence and knowledge to pursue their business and social enterprise dreams. This is the first iteration of what will become an annual campaign to help build entrepreneurial capital in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Sponsored by the online magazine NZ Entrepreneur, the campaign, dubbed ‘Startup Spring’, will provide 160 grassroots entrepreneurs across the country with 12 months of free entrepreneurship training and support to identify, evaluate and launch new ventures. to support

Under this scheme, successful applicants each receive a scholarship and can register and complete online. Startup NZ Entrepreneurship Program For free. Participants can access his lessons online for this program. A combination of videos, texts, self-assessments, and exercises designed to prepare first-time entrepreneurs for the rigors of starting a business. The scholarships are funded by NZ Entrepreneur and NZ Entrepreneur supporters within the startup ecosystem, and Richard Liew, founder and editor of the platform, said the campaign will drive more business-driven social impact initiatives. He says he hopes to inspire.

Speaking from Auckland on the eve of the campaign, he said entrepreneurship is a “non-negotiable skill set” for navigating turbulent times.

“The only constant is change. , it is becoming more and more important to be able to create value,” he said.

The Startup NZ Entrepreneurs Program was launched by Liew in late 2019 and, according to him, “flooded” shortly after New Zealand experienced its first lockdown due to COVID-19 in early 2020. 1200 New Zealanders took advantage of his lessons as a free starter to the programme. 300 people participate in all programs.

Liew said some campaign proponents within the business community were quick to support the idea, but that the business community wanted “more and more” to develop and upskill future generations of NZ business leaders. You can do that.”

One such supporter was John Robson, head of New Zealand at global venture capital firm Bridgewest Ventures, who applauded the initiative.

“As an entrepreneur, you are always learning. Programs like this are essential in preparing new founders for their journey into the unknown. All founders need to work hard on this and soak up as much support as they can because it will allow them to run faster at the speed they need to go global.”
