Matthew Hayden named Pakistan team mentor for T20 World Cup

Islamabad [Pakistan]Sept 9 (ANI): Legendary Australian hitter Matthew Hayden has been named for the second time as Pakistan’s team mentor for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, having previously led them in the 2021 edition.

The decision was announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board after Hayden joined the team in last year’s tournament which saw Pakistan reach the semi-finals.

The decision is a continuation of Hayden’s involvement with the national men’s team after defeating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in league matches to galvanize them into the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Hayden will join the team in Brisbane on October 15th. The day also marks Pakistan’s arrival from Christchurch after competing in his T20I series, which also hosts Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand.

Reflecting on his re-election, Hayden is confident in Pakistan’s potential to qualify for the final following their recent impressive performances in the ongoing Asian Cup.
