A possible firearm incident has blocked four schools in West Auckland and armed police are on the scene.
Kelston Boys High School Principal Adeline Blair thing The school was closed as a “precautionary measure” around 2:30 pm on Tuesday.
She didn’t comment on the reason.

A police spokesman said concerns about human well-being were reported in the Kelston area after 2:00 pm.
“Police are in the area making inquiries to find this person,” said a spokesman.
“Because this report is nearby, a nearby school was closed as a precautionary measure.”
The schools are Kelston Boys High School, Kelston Girls High School, Kelston Intermediate, and St. Leonards Road School.
The Kelston Community Infant Center was also closed.
Parents of school students were sent emails, phone calls, and text messages advising them not to come to school until the situation was resolved.
Posts on the St. Leonards School website advised that updates be posted as often as possible.
“Don’t come to school or call the school. Not being able to attend can interfere with the management of this case and endanger the safety of yourself, your staff and your students.”
At 3:30 pm, a police spokesman said school students are now being released in “gradual release” with the help of the school.
“This helps with possible traffic jams in the area. Inquiries are ongoing.”
The day after the Lincoln Heights School in nearby Massey was closed due to a firearms incident.
It is unknown if the incident is linked.
