A promising MMA fighter and young father are in jeopardy after the attack in Auckland.
Police confirmed that the victim remained seriously ill at Auckland City Hospital shortly after 10:30 am.
FauVake’s friends and family are gathering to support him. The mixed martial arts communities in Japan and overseas also gather and support each other.
Vake is understood to be the victim of an attack in central Auckland early on Sunday morning.
Police and paramedics were summoned to the incident at Symmonds St at 2.55 am.
Since then, four men have been prosecuted in connection with the case.
A 29-year-old man was charged with intentionally injuring and intentionally injured. Another 29-year-old man was also charged with general assault.
A third 29-year-old man was charged with two assaults intended to be injured.
A fourth man, 32, was charged with general assault.
The group appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday.
A spokeswoman told Herald: “The victims of this incident are still in crisis at Auckland Hospital.
“The police are not looking for anyone else in this case.”
