Could you tell us a little bit about your business?

Kiwi Assist is an online platform developed specifically for New Zealand seniors, providing convenient access to an easy-to-use online directory for all your Internet needs. Our platform acts as a comprehensive one-stop shop for internet usage and offers a wide range of features.

One of the key features is the website guide that guides seniors through every step of the sign-up process, browsing the website, and even making online purchases if needed. We understand that these tasks can be daunting, so our guides are designed to simplify navigation and help seniors use the internet with confidence.

In addition to the website guide, we also provide an app installation guide. Through extensive research, we have identified the most commonly used applications among New Zealand seniors. Our guides provide step-by-step instructions on how to install these applications on your device, allowing you to explore new tools and improve your digital experience.

Please note that online directories, website guides, and app installations are updated weekly. Our commitment to regular updates ensures that users always have access to the latest information and resources. We continually strive to provide fresh and relevant content to keep up with the ever-evolving digital landscape.

What is the background of your business idea?

What started as a high school student’s project to help grandparents master computers and smartphones has grown into a full-fledged business aiming to bring New Zealand’s seniors into the digital age.

18-year-old Martins said he came up with the idea after realizing that older people struggle with technology, something that’s easy for younger generations. “We were born with smartphones, so it makes sense,” he jokes. “But when our parents and grandparents grew up, there was no internet, and the idea of having a personal mobile computer in your pocket was sci-fi.” situation, he realized.

What programs, learning, and teaching have helped you so far?

  • I am deeply grateful to Mr. Bill Smale and Mr. Anthony Quark for their valuable guidance. Their unwavering support helped me achieve my goals and spark passion.
  • Becoming an entrepreneur at a young age is great, but I think it’s important for teens to discover their passions and pursue them wholeheartedly. You have a lot of time in your teens, so it’s important to make the most of it. Remember that the actions you take during this time really shape your life.
  • The most valuable lessons are hidden in accepting failure. It’s moments like these that give us the opportunity to turn setbacks into springboards and learn valuable lessons from them. So never be ashamed of failure and always strive to learn and grow from it.
