Drink coffee to accelerate fat burning before exercising

Good news for coffee lovers New Zealanders who enjoy exercising.

Drinking coffee 30 minutes before aerobic exercise significantly increases the rate of fat burning, according to a new study from the University of Granada in Spain.

Granada researchers also found that when exercise takes place in the afternoon, the effects of caffeine are more pronounced than in the morning.

Richard Beddie, CEO of ExerciseNZ, said the Spanish findings are great news for Kiwi.

“Using one of New Zealand’s most popular drinks will make your exercise more effective.

“New Zealand is ranked 13th in the world to consume coffee. It is higher than the United States and Australia. Kiwi drinks on average. 2.5 cups of coffee one week.

“Exercise in the afternoon has a small additional benefit, but the main benefit is that coffee and exercise help fat burning.
