The driver remembered to take care of this Anzac

Attribution to National Road Policing Center Director Superintendent Steve Greally.

Many are looking forward to this extended weekend in Anzac.

But before you start your journey, remember to fasten your seat belt, do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, remove distractions and slow down.

Police don’t want a repeat of last year’s killing of 12 people in the streets over Anzac weekend.

The week also got off to a devastating start with seven people losing their lives in a serious accident.

We don’t want anyone else to experience losing a loved one through a bad travel decision.

Police always remain focused on the main actions that lead to death or serious injury on the road, especially on long weekends when they know there are many drivers and passengers on the road.

Slow down and take your time driving according to the conditions.

Before you leave, eat and drink something and get enough rest the night before.

Buckle up and put your phone away when you get in the car.

Take regular breaks while traveling to stay refreshed and alert.

Police will target drivers who endanger themselves or others.

We want everyone to enjoy their Anzac vacation plans and return home safely.

Traffic is heavy on the road, so please be polite and maintain a safe following distance.

If you drink, don’t drive.

Arrange for a sober driver to pick you up, or use public transportation, a taxi, or a carpool option.

Police would like to see an Anzac weekend without serious accidents on our roads.

Traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility.

If you see dangerous driving behavior on the road, call the police on 111 immediately.
