Meet Taranaki entrepreneurs to watch – NZ Entrepreneur Magazine

Te Puna Umanga/Venture Taranaki The last three episodes of power up podcastSeason 3 will be hosted by longtime business advocate David Downs.

Through our six-part series, we hear valuable insights and practical advice from the leaders of pioneering Taranaki companies that lead their fields. All six guests have unique stories, but they all demonstrate how the region’s renowned lifestyle and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem enable big ideas to thrive. A shining example.

With an impressive line-up of guests and thought-provoking topics, PowerUp Podcast Season 3 is a must-listen for anyone looking to stay on the cutting edge of business and innovation. Don’t miss his final three episodes showcasing award-winning breweries, pioneering industrial transportation and impressive digital content creators.

Joe Emmans, Three Sisters Brewery.

Joe Emmans was once an engineer in the Middle East. Today he is a brewer in Taranaki. But he’s more than just a brewer. The award-winning His Three His Sisters His Brewery is one of the best breweries in the area and the New He has a bar and restaurant in one of Plymouth’s oldest buildings. I am proud of it.

Joe talks about international cooperation, moving to an old fine bank, crowdfunding and becoming a bona fide business owner. What started as a hobby has now become a full-time job. The way he made it happen is a testament to his passion and tenacity.

CJ Mahoney, AGTRANS.

CJ Mahoney dropped out of school at age 16 to start a shipping company as a hobby. Nearly 20 years later, he employs 35 of his employees and is the driving force behind the launch of one of South Taranaki’s largest commercial developments.

CJ’s AGTRANS business has grown and transitioned to a popular crane transportation option in the oil and gas industry. At the same time, his desire to have a permanent driveway at work has led him to purchase a 67-acre farm that is being developed into a $12 million commercial and residential business park. He makes it seem like it’s no big deal because he’s that kind of guy, and he has that go-getter attitude and unconcerned confidence in himself.

Hannah Hunt, The Lower Collective.

Listening to podcasts is another thing, but what about producing podcasts? Hannah Hunt and Laura Leadbetter started the Roar Collective out of a shared love of the platform, but podcast creation is no different. I didn’t have much experience. Four years later, the company is one of New Zealand’s only podcast production companies, with numerous corporate and celebrity clients.

Hannah shares her journey to signing her first big show before she had recording equipment, gaining access to valuable expertise, and growing a young family.

She also reflects on her efforts from Taranaki. Hanna values her work-life balance, which is a big reason why she returned to the area after a few years. She is her great insight into the Taranaki lifestyle and how the local culture brings people to productive work and family lives.
