Uttarakhand farmers should become leaders in apple and kiwi production like Himachal: CM Dami
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 9 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dami said farmers in his state should become leaders in apple and kiwi production like Himachal Pradesh. Dami presided over a high-level meeting on apple farming and kiwi missions at the camp office.
Dami said Uttarakhand has set a target of 3 billion rupees in revenue from the horticulture sector by 2030. To ensure this, states should focus on annual determinations of production capacity, he said. He also instructed officials to develop proposals for cold storage in apple and kiwi growing areas.
The Prime Minister also requested that apple and kiwi production operations be carried out in mission mode so that horticultural development plans reach ground level.
Mr. Dami instructed that the national interest should be kept in mind as well as a strong will in the implementation of these plans. He said the state’s apple and kiwi production areas should be identified first, then the growers’ issues should be prioritized.
In order for growers to become leaders in apple and kiwi production, they must first identify apple-producing areas, increase land capacity and ensure availability of high-quality plants, the prime minister said. . (Ani)
