The exhibit was organized by Trevor Stanley Joblin of Amberley and was held at his Spring Classic Cars show at Better Half Kitchen and Bar in Leithfield last Sunday.
“This was a special, one-off event commemorating the Queen,” says Trevor.
“We asked drivers of all British cars to attend, classic or not. There were 106 classic cars in total, about 50 of which were British.”
The British-built line-up included a 1981 Ford Cortina 2.0L owned by Zach Haywood of West Melton. The car was purchased new by Alec Blank, Zach’s great-grandfather in Yaldhurst, and restored by Zach after years of being parked in a shed unused.
The show also included two Triumphs owned by a Christchurch father and son.
Yanni Woods displayed a 1973 Triumph GT6 Mk3 and his son Jonty Woods displayed a 1975 Triumph 2.5 Mk2.
A 1982 Morgan Plus 8 sports car owned by Rangiora’s Tim Palmer was also included in the British line-up.
The British theme will feature live music during the event by cover bands Magic, including Philip Chapman of Rollston, Dennis Gempton of Reefton, Craig Gribble of Christchurch, Nigel Cook of Kaiapoi and Sharon Miller of Rangiora. continued. A popular British rock’n’roll classic.
