New Zealand hitter Tom Latham signs for Surrey to play five County Championship games
Surrey [UK]5 April (ANI): Surrey County Cricket Club has announced the signing of New Zealand batsman Tom Latham’s services in five County Championship matches in June and July.
“Surrey has signed New Zealand batsman Tom Latham for five county championship matches in June and July,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday.
Latham’s time at Surrey will begin on 11 June against Kent and end on 25 July against Somerset at Taunton.
Members of Surrey will have the chance to see the New Zealander at The Oval twice, against Lancashire on 25 June and Nottinghamshire on 10 July.
A derby against Middlesex at Lords on 19 July will cap off his time at Three Feathers.
The son of former all-rounder Rod Latham, Latham made his international debut for New Zealand in 2012 and is currently vice-captain of the Test and ODI teams.
It was recently announced that he will return to T20 action in New Zealand in April as captain, his first T20 international since 2021.
In Test cricket he scored 5,150 runs in 74 matches, averaging 41.53 in 13 centuries and 27 50s, and in first-class cricket he scored 10,385 runs in 147 matches, averaging 44.19 in 26 tons and 55 half centuries. . .

In the previous County Championship season in 2022, Surrey finished as Division 1 champions. This year they have been placed in the division alongside Essex, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Middlesex, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Somerset and Warwickshire. (Ani)
