A space enthusiast has built a tiny £50,000 ‘UFO’ house built in the 70’s. It is packed with some amazing features.
Nick McCoyd restored and refurbished the Spaceship House in Christchurch. new zealand.
futuristic HouseAlso known as Futuro House, the house was originally designed by Matti Sronen in 1968 as a blueprint for what people thought a modern home could look like.
and just a handful UFOs When the house was built, Nick took possession of it and turned it into an incredible extraterrestrial masterpiece.
In an interview with the YouTube channel Living Big In A Tiny House, the homeowner said, “Only 100 will be built, 12 of them in New Zealand, and only about 60 remaining worldwide.” Told.
The unusual futuristic home renovation was inspired by Nick’s love of spaceships as a child, so when he came across the opportunity to purchase one of the strangest structures, he took the chance. I jumped.
In an interview with the channel, Nick said the entire house is made of fiberglass, with layers of foam insulation between the sheets to retain heat within the building.
The UFO House is 8 meters wide and 4 meters high, but many guests are surprised that it actually feels much larger.
Nick spent a year transforming the original Futuro home into the modern, livable building it is today.
There are two buttons (red and green) on the outside of the house that control a hatch to enter and exit the house.
Pressing the red button leads to a series of stairs leading up from the house, tying into the intergalactic theme.
A staircase leads to a foyer with bright blue walls and an oval window, where a colorful Teletubby doll watches over potted plants.
Nick then shows the viewer a small children’s bedroom with bunk beds and a matching circular UFO window.
Next, the spaceship enthusiast reveals a bathroom dotted with alien figurines and a colorful mottled shower curtain.
“In this room, it doesn’t matter if it gets wet from roof to floor,” explained Nick, as the fiberglass makes it completely waterproof.
The main living area features 70s-inspired décor, including brightly patterned pillows, long red sofas, purple curtains, and green chandeliers.
“This is as close as possible to the original Futaro’s house available around the world,” Nick said.
The room is also filled with memorabilia such as 70’s TVs and old-fashioned radios.
Nick also installed a kitchen in the space, keeping with the retro UFO theme that runs through the space.
“It’s all fiberglass molded, too,” Nick said, adding, “So the whole point of the Futuro is that it’s all fiberglass because it’s all molded. is,” he said.
Finally, the renovator showed viewers an impressive bedroom hidden behind a hidden wall.
“The layout we created here is exactly as per the original specifications. [Futaro home]” revealed Nick.
But not only did he decorate the interior with cool, futuristic features, he also did some “outrageous things” with the exterior lighting.
Nick’s vision is of a house straight out of Avatar, covered in LED lighting throughout.
And with its location next to a pool, colorful statues, saunas, and colorful seating areas, the entire environment looks like it’s been cut straight out of the galaxy.
Nick’s Airbnb post for the “dome” says it sleeps up to 9 people and has a whopping 4.98 star review.
One previous visitor said “WOW!! The pictures online were so nice but it wasn’t as amazing as being there in person. It was like being in your own private resort and everything you needed It was complete and more,” he wrote.
Another said “Incredible otherworldly stay! Incredible must visit. The decor is perfect and there is so much to do on site. 100% worth it!” rice field.
The third said “It’s such a great place to stay with family. The facilities have everything you need and the 60’s/70’s details are amazing. 10/10 will come again.” added.
Nick paid £40,000 for the unit, which was in “pretty bad condition”, but had to shell out another £2,360 to take it apart by helicopter into three pieces.
He then effortlessly worked to transform it into the wonderful home it is today.
