Could you tell us a little bit about your business?
Time and health are the two most valuable commodities of our time, but they often come at the expense of each other and the environment.
Chia Sisters manufactures functional beverages that harness plant bioactives and nutrients for everyday wellness, and do so in a way that positively impacts the planet. It operates from a solar powered juicer in Whakatu Nelson and is B Corp, Climate Positive and Zero Carbon certified.
For us, health does not mean that our products are free from everything. It’s about what it’s made from. The ingredients in our formula are clean, plant-based and sugar-free. But what sets us apart is the micronutrients and bioactive substances in the drink that contribute directly to health, and how those nutrients are absorbed by our bodies.
That’s why you feel the difference when you enjoy Cheer Sisters.
Our neuroscience expertise, innovation pipeline and bespoke production facility enable us to create, adapt and respond to health trends in food and beverages at a leading pace.
What’s the story behind your business idea?
In 2012, Chloe, a neuroscientist and herbalist interested in plant nutrition and bioactives, was inspired by her sister Florence. A corporate lawyer who is a New Zealand champion triathlete and his father Ben who is a world champion swimmer.
She created a range for natural, wholesome energy. Cheer Sisters was born. It quickly became clear that athletes weren’t the only ones striving for health and nutrition to get the most out of each day.
What programs, learning, and mentoring have helped you so far?
As part of the SheEO network, I had access to one-on-one mentors. Beyond that, we approached the business that inspired us and learned from them.
